Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner was arrested for driving under the influence just hours after defeating Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos 27-21 on Monday Night Football. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Turner was taken to Gwinnett County after being charged with speeding and DUI.
It was a long, late night for Turner, who was booked at 5 a.m. on Tuesday and released hours later on $2,179 bond. Police were prompted to pull Turner over when they found him driving 97 mph in a 65 mph zone.
What a way to ruin a Monday night. Turner recorded a Falcons franchise record 51st touchdown in the team’s win against the Broncos and had 17 carries for 42 yards in the game. There’s nothing wrong with going out to celebrate but there is just no excuse not to call a cab or a sober friend to bring you home safely. A fun night will most assuredly be followed by a not very fun day as Turner will have to face his team and coaches about the arrest.
