Neither Matt Hasselbeck nor Jake Locker have had a stellar preseason for Tennessee, but it seems the Titans have made their decision regarding who will lead the team at the start of the regular season. The team has named Locker as their starting quarterback according to a report from the NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi.
Locker, the first-round draft pick from 2011, has completed 11 of 24 passes for 101 yards through two preseason games. Hasselbeck is 9 of 14 for 74 yards with 2 interceptions.
When a team selects a quarterback high in the first round (Locker was the 8th overall pick) the expectation is for that player to have an immediate impact on the team. The Titans selected Locker to be the future of their franchise and are moving forward with those plans by naming him the leader of the team’s offense come the start of the 2012 season.
