The premiere of the film “Sparkle” in New York was a bittersweet occasion, as the film’s executive producer and star was the late, great Whitney Houston. Jordin Sparks makes her acting debut in the movie’s title role and remembered Houston’s presence and influence on the set fondly.
“[Whitney] would walk in and she was so excited to see everybody and she wanted to see all of us shine, which you don’t see very often. The example she set was to always remain humble and to not be ashamed of who you are and not to forget where you came from. And that was something I will take with me forever.”
“Sparkle’ is the story of three sisters in the ’60s trying to make a name for themselves in the music industry. Carmen Ejogo stars in the film in addition to Sparks and Houston.
