Amy Winehouse’s death is still fresh for her producers, collaborators, and fans. It was exactly one year today(July 23rd) that Amy Winehouse’s body was discovered in her London apartment.
The 27 year old’s soulful voice transcended her generation. Amy Winehouse’s producer, Salaam Remi, explained that the singer mass appeal, by saying: “Over this last year of looking at Amy Winehouse and what’s going on there, what I felt was that it wasn’t even songs that she left behind. She left behind inspiration.” Remi worked on ‘Frank’ and ‘Back to Black’ as well as the album that Winehouse was working on at the time of her death.
Winehouse recorded with a range of artists including Jay-Z and Ghostface Killah.
Winehouse even recorded with Nas. The Nas and Winehouse jazzy collaboration “Cherry Wine”, was on Nas’ 10th solo LP, Life Is Good, released on July 17th. The two artists even shared the same September 14th birthday. Nas told MTV News, “It’s hard to talk about it because she’s missed and she’s one of a kind. I think it’s a magic moment between us, me and her, and may she rest in peace and love.”
