Terrell Owens has yet to land a job in the NFL, but it’s not stopping him from trying. Today many reports indicated that T.O. joined Drew Brees and others in workouts held in San Diego.

Owens joined Brees, along with Carson Palmer, Sean Canfield, Chase Daniel, Kyle Boller and Darren Sproles in some throwing sessions on the West Coast.

The 38-year-old Owens last played in the NFL in the 2010-11 season as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals where he played in 14 games and racked in 983 yards with nine touchdowns, some solid numbers for a receiver that many say doesn’t have anything left.

Is this more than a friendly workout for Owens with Brees? This offseason the Saints lost WR Robert Mechem via free agency to the San Diego Chargers, and they brought in Randy Moss for a workout before he eventually signed with the San Francisco 49ers. It implies that the Saints were interested in bringing in another wideout, and Owens may be just the guy.

His last showing on the NFL level was pretty solid, and with everything happening in New Orleans regarding the Bounty Scandal, many think that the Saints will take a step back. If Owens can amount to the same production he did in Cincinatti, the Saints may have themselves some WR help.

Owens spoke to the NFL Newcomers at the Rookie Symposium and many said that he sent a heartfelt message, he has done a lot to try to grab the attention of folks around the league, and joining Brees in workouts may lead to a job, just as it had with Darren Sproles one year ago.

The workouts may mean nothing, but if Brees likes what he sees, he may have a strong voice in bringing Owens on board. They could work a contract out similar to what the 49ers gave Randy Moss as well – if he didn’t make the team, they’d owe him nothing. But in my opinion, it’s worth a shot if he still has gas left in the tank.
