Over the last week or so, reports have been released stating that former Laker, Lamar Odom may be returning to the Purple and Gold collective in Los Angeles next season.

Head Coach Mike Brown and Kobe Bryant have both expressed interest in Odom’s return, but before this possibility can become a reality, there are two things that Lamar has to consider. First, Odom is still under contract with the Dallas Mavericks. Mark Cuban will either have to decide to either trade him back to the Lakers or buy out his contract and make him a free agent.

If Odom goes the free agent route, he will have to wait until December 11th and possibly sit out for part of the season. That’s right, under the new collective bargaining agreement, a player cannot return to a team he was traded from for one full year.

So, unless he’s traded back to the Lakers, Lamar’s return to the Lakers seems like it’s going to be a long process.
